Kenya has recorded a record 447 new coronavirus cases, the largest number in a single day since the first case was reported in March.

Notably, this surge in cases comes just three days after President Uhuru Kenyatta announced the end to a cessation of movement in Nairobi and Mombasa.

According to the latest statistics, 280 of the positive cases are male while 167 are female.

Health CS Mutahi Kagwe has urged parents to take care of their infants by discouraging people from visiting their homes, citing the need to protect the lives of infants.

The oldest patient is 88 years old.
