The North Eastern Region has seen a surge in terror-related incidents, with intelligence reports warning of militants targeting vital installations along the Kenya-Somalia border.

North Eastern regional police boss, Rono Bunei, confirmed that officers are combing the area in pursuit of the attackers.

'No one was injured in the incident, but our officers are working tirelessly to track down the perpetrators,' he said.

Kenyan security agencies have been on high alert following a series of terror attacks in the region, including a foiled attack on Monday where suspected terrorists hijacked a car and kidnapped eight people.

However, swift action by security agencies resulted in the rescue of the eight captives, who were being taken to Somalia via Wajir County.
