On July 8, 2020, Bishop George Ogango, a 50-year-old clergyman from Roho ST church in Oloo Bongu area, was arrested in Komuoyo village of Kasewe “A” Sub Location in Rachuonyo East Sub County.
The bishop was accused of engaging in sexual activities with his 12-year-old daughter, a class seven pupil at a local primary school in the area.
According to a clan elder, the bishop repeatedly defiled the minor on his matrimonial bed over three consecutive days, from Wednesday to Friday last week, when his wife was away attending a funeral.
The suspect's wife later revealed the incident to a neighbour after the bishop had warned her and the minor against telling anyone about the incident due to his position in society.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo East Sub County deputy commissioner Jack Obuo said the bishop was arrested after the minor's medical examination report from the sub-county Hospital revealed that she was defiled.
Obuo further stated that the suspect is being detained at Othoro police station awaiting arraignment in court.
