Published on July 9, 2020, Narok South is reeling from the tragic loss of two teenagers who were shot dead while herding livestock in the Maasai Mau forest.

County Commissioner Samuel Kimiti revealed that the two boys, aged 14 and 15, had been missing for four days before their bodies were discovered in the forest with arrows protruding from them.

Police are currently investigating the matter to determine who was responsible for the killings and what the motive was.

The incident has sparked concerns about the safety of children who are sent to graze livestock in the forest, which has been declared a protected area after the eviction of over 35,000 people last year.

According to Kimiti, the government will not tolerate grazing in the Mau and Logoman forests, which have been identified as 'hotbeds of ethnic conflicts'.
