Jerusa Momanyi, a teacher and incumbent women representative, is facing stiff competition from businesswoman Josphine Omanwa and Wilkister Morara.
Jerusa, who was elected to the position after defeating journalist Alice Chae in 2017, hails from Kitutu Masaba constituency, which has consistently registered the highest number of voters in the county.
On the other hand, Wilkister and Josephine both hail from West Mugirango constituencies, while Borabu and North Mugirango constituencies have not fielded any candidates for the seat.
Janet Ondieki, who contested for the seat in the last general election, has opted out and is instead vying for the MP seat in North Mugirango constituency.
Jerusa has a head start in the competition, given her constituency's reputation for solidarity in voting, particularly in the election of the women seat.
However, Jerusa faces several challenges, including allegations of favoritism in employment opportunities for her relatives and children.
Businesswoman Josphine Omanwa, a Jubilee party supporter, is giving Jerusa sleepless nights with her development initiatives in the county, which have earned her a strong following among the youth, the elderly, and the vulnerable.
Omanwa's clan, Bosamaro, is known for voting as a bloc in general elections, giving her an advantage in the competition.
Wilkister Morara, the third aspirant, is making her first attempt in politics and has promised to be a model of development and unity if elected as the women representative in 2022.
