On July 9, 2020, a 50-year-old bishop was arrested in Komuoyo village, Rachuonyo East Sub County, Kenya, for allegedly defiling his 12-year-old daughter.
Bishop George Ogango, of Roho ST church in Oloo Bongu area, was taken into custody after a medical examination confirmed that the minor had been defiled.
According to the Rachuonyo East Sub County deputy commissioner, Jack Obuo, the bishop was arrested and is being detained at Othoro police station, awaiting arraignment in court.
The alleged defilement occurred over three consecutive days, from Wednesday to Friday last week, when the bishop's wife was away attending a funeral in Kendu Bay, Rachuonyo North Sub County.
The bishop's wife later revealed the incident to a neighbor, after the bishop had warned her and the minor against telling anyone about the incident due to his position in society.
Confirming the incident, Rachuonyo East Sub County deputy commissioner Jack Obuo said the bishop was arrested after the minor's medical examination report from the sub county Hospital revealed that she was defiled.
