Former Harambee Stars captain Musa Otieno has made a remarkable recovery from COVID-19, being discharged from the Kenyatta National Hospital (KNH) after a 10-day stay.

According to a close friend of Otieno, who wished to remain anonymous, the 46-year-old football legend responded well to treatment and is now in stable condition.

"He is currently observing self-isolation as recommended by the health officials. We thank KNH and all the health workers involved," the friend added.

Football stakeholders, including Football Kenya Federation (FKF) president Nick Mwendwa and Harambee Stars coach Francis Kimanzi, have wished Otieno a quick recovery.

With a storied career spanning multiple teams, including AFC Leopards, Tusker FC, and Sanlam Santos in South Africa, Otieno is remembered for his leadership on the pitch, including captaining Harambee Stars at the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.

After retiring from active football, Otieno transitioned into coaching, working as an assistant coach for both the men's and women's national teams. He is also a prominent TV and radio pundit and owns an academy that offers football education to aspiring players.
