On July 5, 2020, a domestic dispute turned deadly in Kisumu's Dago area, leaving a 28-year-old man fighting for his life.
Constable Maureen Awuor, a 35-year-old administration police officer attached to the Critical Infrastructure Protection Unit (CIPU) headquarters in Kisumu East, has been accused of shooting her husband, Victor Odhiambo, twice in the head.
According to court records, the altercation began when Awuor returned home and confronted her husband about giving their househelp Sh50 for lunch without consulting her first.
Awuor also accused her spouse of not picking her calls, sparking a heated argument that ended with her pulling the trigger.
On Tuesday, July 7, 2020, Awuor appeared before Winam Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Fatuma Rashid, where she denied the charges of attempted murder.
She was released on a Sh500,000 cash bail or an alternative of Sh2 million bond and the matter will be mentioned on August 21, 2020, and heard on September 30, 2020.
