On July 8, 2020, actress Naya Rivera rented a boat on Lake Piru, northwest of Los Angeles, to take her four-year-old son on a trip.
Another person out on the lake alerted emergency services after finding the child, alone but apparently unharmed, sparking a search for Rivera.
The Ventura County Sheriff's office deployed a dive team to the area, initially tweeting that they were looking for a 'possible drowning victim'.
Rivera, 33, is best known for her six-season stint as high school cheerleader Santana Lopez in the popular TV series Glee.
