Patric, a former Barcelona star, lost his temper and bit Donati in the 90th minute of the match, which Lazio ultimately lost 2-1.

According to Italian media outlet ANSA, Donati has absolved Patric of any wrongdoing, stating that he did not inflict any bodily harm and even apologized afterwards.

Donati was quoted as saying, "He did nothing to me and apologized straight after, so bear that in mind." He also added, "I also live with emotions so I understand Patric why, in such a hard-fought game, did what he did."

As a result of his actions, Patric will have to miss four upcoming matches, including fixtures against Juventus, Udinese, and Cagliari, and pay a fine of £9,000.

Lazio's defeat to Lecce has all but ended their title hopes, despite sitting second in the Serie A standings.

Patric's punishment was handed down on July 9, 2020, just two days after the incident.
