On July 8, 2020, a woman's funeral was scheduled to take place in Kalyet location, Londiani sub-county, but it was halted after a court order was obtained by the family of the woman who was accused of bewitching the deceased.

The family of the woman who died a week ago demanded compensation for defamation and character assassination, leading to a dispute between the two families.

Ben Siele, a close kin of the deceased, stated that family members who went to pick the body for the burial were turned away due to the court order.

As a result, irate mourners who were waiting for the body went on a rampage, torching a family house, a Toyota Probox, and crops at the homestead of the woman who obtained the court order.

The mob also barricaded the Londiani-Muhoroni road, causing chaos and disrupting morning activities.

Police officers deployed to quell the chaos struggled to disperse those who insisted that the burial had to go on as planned.

The dispute will be heard in court on Friday, July 10, 2020.
