On July 3, 2020, a disturbing incident took place at Uthiru terminus in Nairobi, where a matatu conductor allegedly indecently touched a female police officer's cleavage.

According to reports, the victim was waiting to board a matatu when Samuel Mburu, the accused, sexually molested her. The two had a near disagreement after Mburu requested the officer to board his matatu, but she chose another one instead.

The officer reported the matter to her colleagues, who later arrested the suspect at the same location three days after the incident.

During the court proceedings, Mburu denied any wrongdoing, claiming that the female passenger who turned out to be an officer had assaulted him first, provoking him to act in the manner he did.

However, the court found him guilty of the charges relating to section 11 of the sexual offence act and freed him on a bond of KSh200, 000 or a cash bail of KSh100,000 pending hearing and determination of the case.

The senior resident magistrate set July 16, 2020, as the date when the matter will come up for mention.
