On July 5, 2020, a shocking incident occurred in Dago, Kisumu, when Constable Maureen Awuor, a 35-year-old policewoman, shot her husband, Victor Odhiambo, twice with an AK47 rifle.
According to the police, the couple had been together for three years and had a disagreement after Mr. Odhiambo gave their househelp Sh50 for lunch without consulting Constable Awuor.
Constable Awuor, who is stationed at Kasagam Police Station, denied the charge of attempted murder when she appeared before Winam Law Courts Senior Resident Magistrate Fatuma Rashid on Tuesday.
Magistrate Rashid released the suspect on a Sh500,000 cash bail or an alternative of Sh2 Million bond.
The matter will come up for mention on August 21, 2020, and heard on September 30, 2020.
Kisumu East sub-county Police Commander Mwenda Musyimi stated that Constable Awuor's actions were unlawful and attempted to cause the death of her husband.
