Comedian Wa Kimani's struggles with depression and financial difficulties have been laid bare by fellow comedian Zeddy, who spoke out about the sad state of the Kenyan comedy industry.

According to Zeddy, Wa Kimani had been battling depression since a fatal car accident in which fellow comedian Ayeiya lost his life. Wa Kimani was driving the car at the time and is reportedly being sued by Ayeiya's family for Ksh21 million.

Speaking to Jalang'o, Zeddy revealed that Wa Kimani had confided in her about his financial struggles, saying 'I have no other means and I'm contemplating selling my kidney.' Zeddy advised Wa Kimani to speak to the managers at Churchill Show instead, but claims that his family has abandoned him.

Zeddy's comments come as a stark reminder of the financial struggles faced by many comedians in Kenya. 'Most comedians are suffering in silence,' she said. 'The men are educated, young but never speak up! Comedians Wa Kimani and Njoro are all suffering and they are struggling to make ends meet.'

Wa Kimani's struggles are a symptom of a larger issue affecting the Kenyan comedy industry. As Zeddy noted, 'Wasanii wanaumia. Most are faking their lifestyles.'
