Former Harambee Stars defender Musa Otieno has made a remarkable recovery from COVID-19, a disease that had him hospitalized at Kenyatta National Hospital with coronavirus-related symptoms.
According to reports, Otieno was discharged from the hospital three to four days ago and will remain in self-isolation at home for the next two weeks as per the Ministry of Health guidelines.
Speaking to Nation Sport, Otieno expressed gratitude to his fans and friends who sent him messages of goodwill during his illness, urging them to follow government directives to avoid contracting the disease.
As Kenya's most decorated footballer, Otieno has made over 100 appearances for the national team in a career spanning more than a decade. He was part of the Stars' contingent that took part in the 2004 Africa Cup of Nations in Tunisia.
During his playing days, Otieno turned out for Kenya Premier League sides Tusker and Inger, before moving abroad with South Africa's Santos. He later went into football management, serving as Stars' assistant coach under Bobby Williamson and Stanley Okumbi.
