Published on July 9, 2020, the latest Henley Passport Index ranked the Kenyan passport 72nd globally, defying the COVID-19 pandemic.

The Japanese passport topped the list, offering visa-free or visa-on-arrival access to 191 destinations worldwide, followed closely by Singapore with 190 destinations.

South Korea tied with Germany in third place, with a score of 189, while Italy, Finland, Spain, and Luxembourg ranked fourth with 188 destinations.

Kenya's passport allows its holders to access 71 destinations worldwide without a visa or visa-on-arrival.

Amanda Smit, Managing Partner and Head of South, East, and Central Africa at Henley, hailed Kenya's resilience in retaining its previous position.

"The much-considered destinations are the ones which have effectively handled the coronavirus outbreak, and especially those which have declared themselves virus-free," she said, as quoted by The Star.
