Report Exposes MPs Who Have Never Spoken in Parliament

On July 8, 2020, Mzalendo Trust released a report highlighting the most active and silent MPs in the Senate and National Assembly.

The report indicates that at least 21 MPs made no contributions on the floor of the House in 2019, with 19 of them being from the National Assembly.

Among the silent MPs are Abdi Tepo (Isiolo South), Abdi Shurie (Balambala), Ahmed Gaal (Tarbaj), Johnson Naicca (Mumias West), Amin Deddy (Laikipia East), Geoffrey Kingagi (Mbeere South), James Gakuya (Embakasi North), George Aladwa (Makadara), John Owino (Awendo), Oscar Sudi (Kapseret), Stanley Muthama (Lamu West), Gideon Konchella (Kilgoris), Justus Kizito (Shinyalu), Samuel Arama (Nakuru Town West), Alfred Sambu (Webuye East), and James Mukwe (Kabuchai).

On the other hand, the best-performing Senators include Ledama Ole Kina (Narok), Moses Wetang'ula (Bungoma), Aaron Cheruiyot (Kericho), Ochilo Ayako (Migori), and Getrude Musuruve (Nominated).

Similarly, in the National Assembly, MPs who made the highest contributions include David Sankok (Nominated), Wilberforce Ojiambo (Funyula), Robert Pukose (Endebess), and Benson Makali (Kitui Central).
