On July 9, 2020, Mombasa governor Hassan Joho and Suna East lawmaker Junet Mohammed boarded a private jet to Dubai, where they were visiting ailing ODM leader Raila Odinga.

As they settled in for the flight, Twitter users noticed a brownish handbag placed under the table where Mohammed was seated.

Users quickly took to the platform to ask the two politicians to reveal the identity of the handbag's owner.

“Please also tell us about the handbag,” posed @jamnarisaaa.

“I see you have some company but are not willing to show us,” added @josimaaa.

Some Kenyans even shared photos of local women carrying similar brown handbags, claiming to have unmasked the owner's identity.

The two politicians were also accused of living large aboard the flight, which boasted comfortable leather seats and an array of eateries.
