Kiambu Resident Files Petition to Remove Moses Kuria from Office

On July 9, 2020, a resident of Kiambu, Elijah Kimani Gicharu, filed a petition to remove Moses Kuria, the Member of Parliament for Gatundu South, from office due to allegations of abuse of power and misappropriation of funds.

Gicharu alleged that Kuria had awarded contracts worth over KSh 170 million to his relatives and friends, including his brother Aloise Kinyanjui, who received a contract worth KSh 32.5 million from Finishline Construction.

According to Gicharu, Kuria had also awarded contracts to other relatives and friends, including John Nome Kuria, James Koigwho, and Charles Regeru Nguru, who received contracts worth KSh 5.8 million, KSh 10.3 million, and KSh 10.3 million respectively.

Additionally, Gicharu alleged that Kuria's daughter, Jane Wambui Kuria, had received a contract worth KSh 9.8 million from Kiki Holdings Ltd, while his son, Stanley Kuria Ngugi, had received KSh 14.8 million from Kurstan Builders Ltd.

Gicharu claimed that he had already submitted his petition to the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) for further investigation.

He also alleged that Kuria had abused his power by awarding contracts to his relatives and friends, and that he should be removed from office.
