Published on July 8, 2020, a Nairobi court issued an order gagging the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP), the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), the media, and bloggers from commenting on Embakasi East MP Babu Owino's attempted murder case.

The case involves MP Owino, who is charged with allegedly shooting Felix Orinda, alias DJ Evolve, at B-Club in Nairobi's Kilimani area on January 17, 2020.

According to court documents, Owino's lawyers, Cliff Ombeta and Dunstan Omari, argued that the actions of the DPP are affecting the emotions of the accused person.

The defense team claimed that the DPP recently incited Embakasi East constituents to recall the MP over the incident.

The matter will be mentioned on August 11 to confirm whether Orinda has recorded a statement.

MP Babu Owino had previously threatened to sue NTV for airing an interview with Orinda, who was recently discharged from the Nairobi Hospital after being bedridden for six months and undergoing multiple surgeries.
