Opposition leader Tundu Lissu has announced plans to return to Tanzania on July 28, ending his three-year exile.

Since being shot multiple times by unknown assailants in 2017, Lissu has been receiving mysterious medical treatment.

As he prepares to return, Lissu has expressed confidence in his decision, stating that he has no reason to believe he will be barred from re-entering the country.

He has urged his supporters to be ready to receive him, saying he has already booked his flight.

Lissu has also accused the current government of being involved in the plot to kill him, despite their claims of innocence.

''I will return home to confront the government that said it had no hand in the attempt on my life, to show the world that it was involved in the 2017 assassination attempt as I had said, I have no reason to believe I will be barred from returning home,'' Lissu said.
