On July 8, 2020, the Kenyan government announced a relaxation of its Covid-19 travel protocols, stating that travelers arriving in the country without symptoms will no longer be required to undergo mandatory quarantine.
According to Transport Cabinet Minister James Macharia, airports across the country will be restricted to essential personnel and travelers, with the exception of those requiring special assistance.
As part of the new protocol, air operators will minimize contact between crew and passengers, reduce onboard services, and implement phased boarding and disembarking procedures to prevent crowding.
The Madaraka Express train services, which had been suspended, will resume on July 13, 2020, with a reduced capacity of 600 passengers (50% of the total capacity) and an additional coach for isolating suspected Covid-19 cases.
