On July 8, 2020, a video of a Kenyan boy singing a popular hymn song went viral, captivating the hearts of hundreds of Kenyans.

The boy's mellow voice, crisp articulation, and command of the Swahili language while singing 'Tusiwe kama Wafarisayo' left many in awe, prompting Inooro FM presenter Jeff Kuria to share the video on his social media platform.

With over 39,000 views on Facebook, the boy from an unidentified slum became an overnight sensation, with many Kenyans taking to the comments section to express their admiration and offer support.

"Waoooow. The kid has an awesome voice. Jeff, if possible, trace him then make him famous. If possible familia yake wasupportiwe, he seems to come from a poor background," one Steve Njugush posted on Facebook.

As the video spread across social media platforms, there was a general consensus that the young boy was in need of a producer who would be able to showcase his talent.

Kenya has seen a surge in creative talent emerging during the Covid-19 pandemic, with many previously unknown citizens turning into overnight sensations after uploading videos or photos online.
