ODM leader Raila Odinga's recovery from surgery in Dubai has sparked a surprise message from former critic Boni Khalwale. The former Kakamega Senator took to social media to wish Raila a speedy recovery, sharing a photo of the two together.

On Tuesday, a photo of Raila and Hass Petroleum Group Executive Chairman Abdinasir Ali was widely shared on social media. In the photo, Raila is seen donning sunglasses and looking happy.

Former Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale, who has been vocal about his disdain for Raila in the past, surprised Kenyans with a heartfelt message. Khalwale reminded Kenyans of the battles they fought together in the 2017 elections, including 'eating' teargas together for six hours.

When it is written, the chapter on your friends will record the sacrifices I met for you in Zanzibar, Okoa Kenya Initiative, 2017 campaigns “and the 6 hours of teargas/gunshots/tears/blood/death, on your arrival from the USA. You are in my thoughts & prayers. Do get well soon Raila Odinga,” Khalwale said in a very passionate tweet.

Despite being pelted with stones during the by-elections in Kibra last year, Khalwale has shown a mature side by wishing Raila a speedy recovery. Kenyans have praised Khalwale for his gesture, calling it 'very mature politics.'
