On June 11, a group of thieves broke into the home of Deputy Officer Commanding Matunda Police Station (Deputy OCS) Joseph Jakoyo in Western Kenya, stealing his car from the parking lot.

According to Likuyani Sub-county Police Commander Boniface Lisiolo, the police began investigating the theft the next day and tracked the car to Bomet, where a high-speed chase ensued.

After the chase, the thieves abandoned the car, and a suspect was arrested and later revealed the identities of his accomplices, who were also arrested.

Further investigations revealed that the syndicate operated in several locations, including Bomet, Sotik, Eldoret, and Kitale.

Police discovered that the mastermind behind the group was a teacher at a school in Kitale, who was planning to sell a Toyota Succeed in Likuyani.

On July 2, the police arrested the teacher and his colleague, and after grilling, the teacher named his colleagues, who were also arrested and vehicles seized.

The officers recovered several number plates, logbooks, and windscreens from the teacher, who was arrested together with his wife.

As of now, eight cars are being held at Matunda Police Station, associated with the ring.

Investigations are still ongoing before the suspects are arraigned in court.
