Kenya is set to resume international flights on August 1, with the government implementing strict measures to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
According to Transport Cabinet Secretary James Macharia, passengers who exhibit no symptoms of coronavirus and record a body temperature of less than 37.5 degrees Celsius will be allowed to leave the airport immediately.
However, passengers who show symptoms of COVID-19 will be subjected to a mandatory 14-day quarantine, with those on the same row as the suspected case also being tested for the virus.
"You do not expect a tourist to come all the way from wherever they will come from to be quarantined here for 14 days. If that will be the case, then they will not come," Macharia said during a news conference at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport on July 8.
International air travel in and out of Kenya was suspended on March 25, with the government implementing measures to curtail the spread of the coronavirus disease.
Domestic flights in Kenya will resume operations beginning July 15, subject to virus prevention protocols.
