On July 3, 2020, a disturbing incident occurred in Uthiru location, Nairobi County, where a tout allegedly groped the breasts of a female police officer who refused to board his matatu.
According to the police report, the officer was waiting to board a matatu to town at around 12:00 hours when the tout, Samuel Mburu, approached her and asked her to board his vehicle. After she denied his request and opted to board a different matatu, Mburu insulted her and committed the indecent act.
Three days later, the officer, accompanied by her colleagues, arrested Mburu and charged him with committing an indecent act with an adult contrary to the Sexual Offences Act.
On Tuesday, Mburu appeared before Kibra Senior Resident Magistrate Renee Kitagwa, where he pleaded not guilty to the charges. He was granted a bond of Sh200,000 or a cash bail of Sh100,000, with the case set to be mentioned on July 16, 2020.
