Kenya National Union of Nurses (KNUN) officials are calling for the removal of Secretary General Seth Panyako from office.
According to Elegeyo Marakwet Branch Secretary General Biwott, Panyako's tenure has been marred by gross violations of union members and maladministration.
Biwott alleges that Panyako has attempted to unconstitutionally change the union's constitution to make himself a life General Secretary and has also tried to remove the position of Chairman from the union's structure.
He further accuses Panyako of using an illegal body to solicit Kshs 16 million from Deputy President William Ruto and entering into non-consented agreements with bodies to deduct nurses' money without their participation.
Biwott also claims that Panyako has sold the union vehicle using his wife without proper consultation, paid his wife and an underage child Kshs 105,000 per month through the payroll, and purchased a V8 vehicle using union funds.
He warns Panyako to stop hiding his leadership failures by attacking government officers, colleagues, and employees, and instead retrace his steps and find something better to do.
Biwott says they will embark on a countrywide mobilization to see Panyako out of the union and appeal to government agencies, health sector trade unions, and professional bodies to sever their relationships with him.
