On June 27, Eliud Chege Njuguna was caught stealing three chickens belonging to Dominic Kiarie at Yamumbi Village in Eldoret. He was subsequently arrested and charged with the crime.

Njuguna appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Richard Odenyo at an Eldoret court, where he pleaded guilty to the charges. The court heard that Njuguna had tried to attack Kiarie, who in turn hit him with a blunt object in self-defense, wounding him.

During the commotion, Kiarie was able to identify Njuguna and alerted his neighbors, who came to his rescue and found Njuguna at his house wearing the same clothes. The chicken were brought to court as exhibits before Njuguna's sentencing.

In mitigation, Njuguna asked the court for forgiveness, claiming he was drunk on the day of the incident and was not aware of his actions. However, the court maintained that his sentence would be two years, with the right to appeal within 14 days.
