On June 27, Eliud Chege Njuguna was caught stealing three chickens belonging to Dominic Kiarie at Yamumbi Village in Eldoret. The incident occurred at around 7pm, and Njuguna was later caught wearing the same clothes at his house.

According to the prosecution, Njuguna tried to attack Kiarie, who in turn hit his head with a blunt object in self-defense, injuring him. The court heard that Kiarie was able to identify Njuguna during the commotion before he escaped.

Njuguna was then escorted by locals to Yamumbi police station, where he faced the charges he confessed to. The three chickens were brought to court as exhibits before Njuguna was sentenced.

During the sentencing, Njuguna asked the court for forgiveness, claiming he was drunk on the day of the incident and was not aware of his actions. However, the court maintained that his sentence would be two years, with a right to appeal within 14 days.
