President Uhuru Kenyatta has been quietly purging DP William Ruto's allies from leadership positions in the National Assembly and Senate over the past three months.
Among those affected were Ruto's allies from the Mt Kenya region, leading to a number of Tanga Tanga MPs switching camps back to Uhuru Kenyatta's side.
Today, a group of leaders from the region, including Speaker Justin Muturi, Majority Leader Amos Kimunya, CS Peter Munya, and four Governors, are meeting in Nairobi to discuss how to politically vanquish DP Ruto from Mt Kenya.
The meeting is part of a larger strategy to create a strong team that will drum up support for the upcoming Building Bridges Initiative (BBI) and wipe out Ruto's remnants in the region.
Those in attendance include former Kiambu Governor William Kabogo, Kirinyaga Senator Charles Kibiru, Governors Kiraitu Murungi, Muthomi Njuku, Nderitu Muriithi, and Lee Kinyanjui.
