Fernando Alonso, the 38-year-old two-time world champion, is set to make a comeback to Formula One with Renault in 2021, according to reports.
Alonso, who won his championship titles with Renault in 2005 and 2006, left the sport at the end of 2018 after a final season with McLaren.
Renault has a vacancy in their driver lineup, which Alonso could fill, potentially replacing Australian Daniel Ricciardo, who is moving to McLaren at the end of the 2020 season.
Frenchman Esteban Ocon, who drives for Renault, expressed his enthusiasm for Alonso's potential return, saying, "I don't know if he is going to join or not with us but definitely if he could come back here I'd be very happy."
Renault was not immediately available for comment.
