Baby Born Holding Mum's Failed IUD Stuns Doctors

On July 8, 2020, a baby boy was born at Hoi Phong International Hospital in Vietnam, leaving doctors and medical professionals stunned and intrigued.

The baby's mother had received an intrauterine device (IUD) two years prior to her pregnancy, with the intention of preventing further pregnancies. However, the device shifted from its original position, rendering it ineffective.

According to Dr. Tran Viet Phuong, the obstetrician who assisted in the delivery, the baby was born healthy and weighed 3.2kgs. The doctor was particularly fascinated by the baby's determination to be born, as evidenced by his grip on the IUD.

"After delivery, I thought him holding the device was interesting, so I took a picture. I never thought it would receive so much attention," Dr. Phuong said in an interview.

The baby's birth has sparked widespread interest and attention, with many people marveling at the unusual circumstances of his arrival.
