On Monday, July 6, a 55-year-old woman from Elukho Village in Lurambi Constituency, Kakamega County, was caught engaging in sexual intercourse with a pastor, who is not her husband.
The woman, Jane Omwaga, has been married to her husband, Josephat Omwaga, for at least 20 years and has three children with him. However, she claims that her husband's constant insecurity and failure to meet her sexual and financial needs drove her into the arms of the pastor, Moses Olutatwa, 52.
According to Jane, Pastor Olutatwa had been seducing her for some time, offering her financial and emotional support, which she claims made her feel valued and loved. She said that the pastor had told her that he wanted her both emotionally and sexually, and she eventually gave in to his advances.
However, Jane's husband, Josephat, has a different story to tell. He claims that he caught his wife and the pastor in bed and that he will not forgive her for cheating on him. He has made it clear that he wants a divorce and plans to sell the family home and relocate elsewhere.
Following the incident, local residents have condemned the adulterous pair's act, accusing the preacher of preying on vulnerable married women. Area chief, Alex Mutende, has also condemned the incident and said that police have launched investigations into the matter.
On Tuesday, July 7, a group of Luhya elders performed cleansing rituals on Jane and her paramour, instructing them to offer a cow each to shield their families against misfortunes.
