On July 8, 2020, detectives investigating the mysterious deaths of two children found in a car at Athi River Police Station were left with more questions than answers after an inconclusive post-mortem examination.
Chief Government Pathologist Johansen Oduor conducted the autopsy at Chiromo Mortuary, stating that the level of decomposition made it difficult to determine the exact cause of death for Alvina Mutheu (3) and Henry Jacktone (4).
According to Oduor, there were no visible injuries or fractured bones to suggest any kind of trauma, and samples from the bodies have been forwarded to the government chemist for further tests.
The bodies of Mutheu and Jacktone were discovered in a Toyota Belta on June 17, 2020, after they were reported missing on June 11, 2020.
A Nairobi-based businessman had gone to the station to pick up his car, which had been impounded after a crash on May 1, 2020, and alerted the officers to a foul smell coming from the trunk.
