Published on July 8, 2020, Samsung announced new changes to its Galaxy A51 and A71 smartphones, bringing Galaxy S20 features to the mid-range devices. However, this move also marked the end of an era for two older devices.
The Samsung Galaxy S7 Active and the Galaxy Tab A 10.1, both launched in 2016, will no longer receive security updates. While this may come as a shock to some, these devices are considered old by Android standards, and it's not surprising they're no longer a priority for updates.
As Samsung updates its list, other devices may soon follow the same path. The Galaxy Tab S3 and several Galaxy A series devices from 2017 are likely to be removed from the update list in the near future.
