On July 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta issued a directive to Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries, outlining his administration's development priorities for the current fiscal year.

During a virtual meeting, Kenyatta emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects within set timelines and budgets, and stressed that no new projects shall be initiated without his consent.

As part of efforts to boost local industries, Kenyatta urged government departments to adopt the 'Buy Kenya Build Kenya' initiative, giving preferential procurement to Kenyan-made goods and services.

He also warned high-profile Cabinet members that they will be held accountable for corruption and mismanagement of public funds in their ministries.

Additionally, Kenyatta asked government departments to prioritize the settlement of pending bills due to the difficult economic environment caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.
