On July 7, 2020, President Kenyatta issued a stern warning to Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries during a virtual meeting.

He emphasized that no new projects would be initiated without his explicit consent, and that ongoing projects must be completed within set timelines and budgets.

As part of the government's efforts to boost local industries, Uhuru urged departments to adopt the 'Buy Kenya Build Kenya' initiative, giving preferential procurement to Kenyan-made goods and services.

He also stressed the importance of settling pending bills, citing the difficult economic environment caused by the Covid-19 pandemic.

President Kenyatta concluded by warning high-profile Cabinet members that they would be held accountable for corruption and mismanagement of public funds in their ministries.
