On July 30, 2020, Ugandan singer Jose Chameleone, also known as Jose Chameleone, is set to appear in court to answer to tax evasion charges.
Chameleone was summoned by the Chief Magistrate's court in Kampala to answer to charges of tax evasion, which allegedly occurred in the region of Sh2.5 million on a Landcruiser V8 vehicle.
The vehicle, bearing South Sudanese registration numbers, was impounded by the Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) officials at his home in March.
Chameleone has insisted that he received the car as a 'gift' from one of his fans, but authorities are not convinced.
According to the summonses, signed by Chief Magistrate Pamela Ocaya, Chameleone is required to appear in person at the Anti-Corruption Court in Kololo on July 30, 2020.
