On July 7, 2020, Wazito FC owner Ricardo Badoer launched a scathing attack on underperforming players at the Kenyan Premier League club, labeling them 'hyena players' who had failed to meet expectations.

According to reports, Badoer had spent an estimated Sh80 million on player signings and other expenses for the season, but the team's performance had been disappointing.

He took to Twitter to express his frustration, accusing the unnamed players of 'eating his money' and losing matches, and suggesting that they would be better off on the streets 'where they belong'.

“Today the Wazito FC cleaning continues. Kicking out no good fng hyena players that were recruited without my approval. All they did was to eat my money and lose games. I wish them the best on the streets where they belong. They lacked self-respect and love for the game,” he wrote.

Wazito FC had recently released 12 players, citing 'tough economical times', and coach Stewart Hall had also left the team, citing a desire to spend time with his family.
