Homa Bay MCAs Charged with Assault and Robbery

On May 7, 2020, a violent incident occurred in Kendu Bay, Rachuonyo North Sub-county, Homa Bay county, where Homa Bay Town East MCA Juma Awuor and his Homa Bay Town Central counterpart Julius Nyambok were allegedly robbed of various items by their colleagues.

According to the charges read before Homa Bay Senior Resident Magistrate Joy Wesonga, Morris Ogwang', the Kendu Bay Town MCA, and Michael Odira, the Kibiri MCA, denied the allegations. However, they were accused of jointly robbing Awuor of Sh75,000 cash, a wristwatch valued at Sh15,000, and open shoes worth Sh2,500.

They were also accused of collaborating with others to rob Nyambok of Sh180,000 cash money and injuring him in the process. Additionally, they were charged with willfully and unlawfully damaging the rear left windscreen of Awuor's Toyota Land Cruiser, valued at Sh12,000.

Each of them was released on a bond of Sh150, 000 with a surety of a similar amount. The case will be heard on July 28, 2020.
