On July 7, 2020, NCBA Bank announced the appointment of Tirus Mwithiga as the new group director for retail banking, a move aimed at strengthening and growing the bank's retail business.
According to NCBA Group managing director John Gachora, the appointment took effect on May 4, 2020, and has received regulatory approvals.
Mwithiga brings 29 years of experience in retail banking and wealth management, having served in various leadership roles in local and global lenders, including Barclays Bank and Standard Chartered.
He previously worked with StanChart Singapore as the (Global) Head of Network Planning and Branch Design across 37 markets.
As part of his new role, Mwithiga will support the bank in navigating the ongoing economic shockwaves caused by Covid-19, which has negatively affected customers.
NCBA Group has restructured Sh35 billion loans equivalent to about 14.2 percent of its net loans at the end of March to cushion customers hit by the coronavirus crisis.
