China's First Lady Peng Liyuan Commends Africa's COVID-19 Fight

On July 7, 2020, China's First Lady Peng Liyuan reaffirmed her country's commitment to supporting Africa in the fight against COVID-19. In a written response to Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, the First Lady of the Republic of the Congo and the new president of Organization of African First Ladies for Development (OAFLAD), Liyuan emphasized the need for mutual assistance and cooperation between countries in the face of the pandemic.

According to Liyuan, the Chinese government will donate a batch of anti-epidemic materials to 53 African countries through OAFLAD, with a focus on supporting women, children, and adolescents. This gesture is aimed at deepening the friendship between Chinese and Africans, as well as providing much-needed assistance in the fight against COVID-19.

Antoinette Sassou Nguesso, in turn, praised China's role in the fight against COVID-19 in Africa, highlighting the importance of international cooperation in addressing the pandemic.
