Kenya's COVID-19 Cases Surge to 8,250

Kenya's Ministry of Health has announced 183 new COVID-19 cases, bringing the total number of cases to 8,250. The new cases were confirmed on July 7, 2020, after 2,061 samples were tested within 24 hours.

According to Health Minister Mutahi Kagwe, the new cases were confirmed after 2,061 samples were tested within 24 hours. The minister emphasized that the responsibility of controlling the spread of the virus now lies with every Kenyan.

Of the new cases, 119 are males, while 64 are females. The youngest patient is four years old, while the oldest is 79 years old. Nairobi County led with 100 new cases.

Minister Kagwe also announced that 90 more patients have recovered from the virus, bringing the total number of recoveries to 2,504. Unfortunately, three more patients have lost their lives, bringing the total number of fatalities to 167.

Minister Kagwe urged Kenyans to take extra precautions and follow the guidelines to prevent the spread of the virus. He warned that if people continue to disregard the guidelines, authorities will be forced to take stricter measures.

"If you see three people who are violating the guidelines by sitting in a car together, you have a personal responsibility to report them," Minister Kagwe said.

"When we take personal responsibility, it will be easier to enforce the guidelines," he added, urging people to avoid attending any gatherings.
