On July 7, 2020, President Uhuru Kenyatta addressed a virtual meeting at the State House in Nairobi, where he outlined the government's development priorities for the 2020/2021 financial year.

During the meeting, the President emphasized the importance of completing ongoing projects, setting clear timelines and budgets, and obtaining his express authority before initiating new projects.

Uhuru also stressed the need for collective responsibility among Cabinet Secretaries, Chief Administrative Secretaries, and Principal Secretaries, urging them to consider the impact of their decisions on the public.

Recognizing the challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic, the President called on government departments to settle pending bills and prioritize the 'Buy Kenya Build Kenya' agenda by giving procurement preferences to Kenyan-made goods and services.

Uhuru commended the National Development Implementation and Communication Cabinet Committee (NDICCC) and the National Development Implementation Technical Committee (NDITC) for their efforts in achieving national development goals and ensuring oversight of government projects.

He also warned Cabinet members against corruption and mismanagement of public funds, emphasizing the need for accountability and transparency in government operations.
