On July 7, 2020, the Inter-Faith Council announced a phased reopening of places of worship, set to begin next week under strict adherence to COVID-19 guidelines.
According to Archbishop Anthony Muheria, Chair of the council, they had prepared an interim report and presented their recommendations to President Uhuru Kenyatta.
The phased reopening will be done in four stages, depending on the trend of the disease and compliance, starting from July 14, 2020.
Archbishop Muheria emphasized the importance of implementing measures to prevent the spread of the virus, including the use of handwashing stations, sanitizers, and masks for all congregants.
He reiterated President Kenyatta's conditions, stating that congregants should not exceed 100 at a time, and those below 13 years and above 58 years should stay home.
Additionally, social distancing of 1.5 meters must be strictly observed, unnecessary contact avoided, and places of worship must be disinfected regularly.
