July 7, 2020, marked a significant milestone for Tottenham Hotspur as they secured a 1-0 victory over Everton, with manager Jose Mourinho achieving his 200th win in the Premier League.
However, it was not just the result that caught attention, but also the heated halftime argument between goalkeeper Hugo Lloris and forward Son Heung-min. The incident, which saw the two players held apart by their teammates, was described by Mourinho as 'beautiful' and a sign that the team is growing up.
According to Mourinho, the argument was a result of his criticism of the team's performance in their previous match against Sheffield United, where they suffered a 3-1 defeat. The Portuguese manager praised his players for being fired up by his words and for demanding more of each other.
"It's beautiful," Mourinho said. "If you want to blame somebody for that, it's me, because I was critical of my boys, because they are not critical enough with themselves, with each other."
Mourinho emphasized the importance of having strong personalities within the team, stating that a 'team of nice boys' would only be able to win the Fair Play Cup, which is not something he is interested in.
