Domestic Flights Resume as Kenya Reopens Airspace

On July 15, Jambojet will resume its domestic flights, operating eight daily and four weekly flights on various routes. This comes after President Uhuru Kenyatta reopened the airspace, allowing domestic carriers to restart their operations.

According to Jambojet's acting Managing Director Karanja Ndegwa, the airline will operate three daily flights to Mombasa, two to Kisumu, two daily flights to Eldoret, one to Malindi, and four weekly flights to Diani.

A one-way ticket to Kisumu, Mombasa, Eldoret, and Malindi will cost Sh4,800, while a ticket to Diani will cost Sh6,800, said Mr. Ndegwa.

“The airline will follow the safety guidelines put in place to offer our customers a safe and pleasant flying experience,” said Mr. Ndegwa.

Kenya Airways, Jambojet's parent company, has been severely affected by the coronavirus pandemic, with plans to reduce its assets and network and lay off an unspecified number of workers to limit losses.

As of July 7, Kenya had confirmed 8,067 cases and 164 deaths, with over 2,414 recoveries.
