Nairobi, Kenya, July 7, 2020 - Coca-Cola Beverages Africa-Kenya (CCBA) has taken a significant step towards optimizing its cooler service capacity by partnering with Safaricom PLC, Kenya's leading integrated communications service provider.
The innovative partnership involves the installation of sensors in CCBA's coolers, which leverage the Internet of Things (IoT) technology to collect vital data. This data enables CCBA to monitor temperature, fridge door openings, and operational status of its coolers in real-time.
According to Josphat Mwangi, Sales and Marketing Director at CCBA-Kenya, the partnership is aimed at making the company more agile and responsive to the needs of its retail partners. 'As a business, it is imperative that we become more agile and responsive to our retail partners' needs,' Mwangi explained.
The data collected from the sensors provides valuable insights into consumer purchase patterns, enabling CCBA to schedule maintenance more effectively. The company has started a proof of value with a pilot of 100 coolers in Nairobi, with plans to expand the initiative across the country.
Rita Okuthe, Chief Enterprise Business Officer at Safaricom PLC, commented on the launch, saying, 'We developed an IoT solution that consists of sensors installed in the coolers that will transmit data and insights that Coca-Cola will use to optimize their operation.'
