July 7, 2020 - Tanzanian singer Vanessa Mdee has been forced to respond to allegations that her current boyfriend Rotimi is abusive.
According to Mdee, the claims that Rotimi has a tendency of assaulting women are not true, and she has never been assaulted by him.
She further added that the stories were ignited by a post made by Rotimi's ex-girlfriend, Christina Rogers, who had posted in her blog about being beaten by her ex-boyfriend.
However, Mdee clarified that Rogers was not talking about Rotimi in the blog, but rather another ex-boyfriend.
'I will not be bullied on social media,' Mdee said. 'I will not be that person. Team, I have been flooded with comments saying that Rotimi beats me, that he is a man who beats women.'
'Number one, that is so far from the truth,' Mdee continued. 'It is not true and it can ruin someone's reputation, especially when it's not true. So I want to clarify this before I proceed.'
Mdee then went on to issue a warning against those spreading the rumors, saying that she will sue anyone who spoils her man's reputation.
'So please, negative media, I'm not the one and I'm not going to be bullied by you anymore,' she said. 'If you see something you want to talk about and you don't have hard facts, please be ready to sue anyone who writes false stories about me, my family, or my boyfriend.'
